As the Swedish Chamber Orchestra releases Volume 10 of the series “The Complete Beethoven Orchestral Works“ (SIMAX): Beethoven´s 9th Symphony, it embarks on this US tour with per formances in New York, North Bethesda, Cleveland, Palm Desert, Costa Mesa and Berkeley. The orchestra is joined by pianist Piotr Anderszewski, with whom the SCO has collaborated in a varied repertoire.
In addition to the Complete Beethoven Orchestral Works recording project the Swedish Chamber Orchestra has also launched a new series on the Swedish label BIS which will include all the symphonies of Schumann as well as orchestral works by Dvorak and Bruckner. Both projects are profiled on the tour.

Founded in 1995 the Swedish Chamber Orchestra has quickly established itself as one of today´s most interesting ensembles, praised for its fresh sound and vital approach. With just 38 members the orchestra retains its intimate identity whilst seeking out new challenges.Alongside the SCO´s on-going partnership with Music director Thomas Dausgaard, the ensemble has also nurtured close ties with Baroque specialist, Andrew Manze, and contemporary composer H K Gruber. The SCO has toured extensively with Thomas Dausgaard and on CD the orchestra´s acclaimed series of the complete Beethoven Orchestral works continues to be released on SIMAX, whilst a new project is launched on BIS exploring the romantic music of Dvorak and Schumann.
Thomas Dausgaard — a brief biography
Danish conductor Thomas Dausgaard is renowned for his dynamic conducting style, his fresh approach to a broad range of repertoire, his prolific discography and the exciting results he has achieved as Chief Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra/DR and as Music director of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Thomas Dausgaard guest conducts several of the world's leading orchestras, among them the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Berlin, the Czech Philharmonic and the Verdi Orchestra, Milan among others. Also he has worked with major orchestras in the United States including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Houston Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Seattle Symphony and the Montreal Symphony. He conducts the Toronto Symphony every year, and makes regular appearances at the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York. Thomas Dausgaard has a discography of more than 30 recordings with companies such as Chandos Records, Dacapo, Simax, BIS and EMI Medley.
Piotr Anderszewski
Born in Warsaw, Piotr Anderszewski is regarded as one of today's most exciting and compelling pianists.
As a regular visitor to major concert venues around the world, he has appeared in recent seasons with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Boston, Chicago and London Symphony Orchestras, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Royal Concertgebouw. Anderszewski has also developed a special reputation for playing and directing. Anderszewski has made a number of award-winning recordings since becoming an exclusive artist with Virgin Classics in 2000. His first recording on the Virgin label was Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. Anderszewski's discography also includes a previous disc of Mozart concertos with the Sinfonia Varsovia and a Grammy-nominated CD of Bach's Partitas 1, 3 and 6.
